Afternoon, Officer
We arrived in Lampasas, TX. Last night Ken and I stayed at our uncle Jim’s house. Had a wonderful visit with him then headed for our cousins Peggy and Bruce’s in the morning. It also was a great time catching each other up on family stuff. After a great visit we headed out for Roswell, NM. After a pretty good stretch we pulled off to get a room in Brownfield, TX. Doug and Dan were riding ahead of us. About halfway through town, we all four stop at a light to make a left turn. What happened next would take way too long to explain because if I get started, I won’t stop laughing and the rest of the guys need the computer. So go to Doug’s Aug-17 entry I read it and it. It is accurate.

Jim and I started our day by going to breakfast with Uncle then said our goodbyes and headed for Peggy and Bruce’s. We hit the rood about 11 AM and have made it to Brownfield By 8:30 PM. Need to do a little work on the bike in the AM. (Flat tire)

My new best friend is Texas Sgt Rodriquez. Well, it was ok. Just check out Doug’s entry for this day.

First to all my friends who have chided me about not keeping up… NOT one of you is the youngest of four brothers! It is 10:43 and I got machine time cause Dan’s in the shower and Jim is sleepy.
Second, a few words about today’s sponsor; the Brownfield Texas Police department and our (my) new pal Sergeant Rodriquez. The short version is he was following us through town… Dan’s leading, sees motel “A” to our left and gets in the left turn lane, sees motel “S” to our right, makes a snap (but ill advised) decision to make a right (see where this is going?). Being the good little brother, I go with him as Ken and Jim slink off to hide their bikes and peek around the corner as Sergeant R and us get to know on another.
We do the whole license, insurance, and registration thing… he runs us for wants and warrants and decides as we chat to give us a warning (Ken and Jim peek on).
At that point I ask if I can take his picture, as he is the first cop not to give us a ticket. He says yes then asks about the other stops… I assure him he is our first and get the picture. (It won’t be up for a day or two but he’s the only (or first) cop.)
Thanks Sarge and as promised… we’ll be out of town long after sun-up.
