Where Dad Used to Live
Today was a good day. About 200 miles. The only mishap we had was when the dealer put on my radiator guard, they left the cooling fan unplugged. Ken found it when we were waiting for the bike to cool down. We checked into the hotel and went looking for the 2 addresses that we had for houses Dad lived in. One was a newer projects housing and the other looked a lot like the Ellis Street house. We had some fun going around in circles and Doug got tired of that quickly.

Well, we headed out from Toledo and are officially on our way. We went to Akron and found the house Dad had on his enlistment papers. It was amazing looking at that house and wondering what his life was like. Who his friends were, did he have neighbors over for picnics, etc.
As mysterious as Dad’s childhood was it’s both fun and curiosity that moves me to find things out. We will probably never find out all we’d like to know, but for now it’s journey that’s the reward not the treasure along the way.

After a slow start we got off.
Took the Ohio Turnpike east to 250 south to 18 east. Went through some picture-perfect little towns. Penfield and Litchfield are beautiful. Stopped in Medina at the Town Square Park.
Lots of very friendly people and a good break to take on fluids.
Made it to Akron/Barberton area where Dan went after he left WV.
Went to two places that he had lived and took pictures.
